SX-PL Tool
The Vortex pig launcher (SX-PL) tool is used in situations where the operator wants all the benefits of the Vortex tool -- lower line pressures, reduced compression costs, reducing/eliminating the need for pigging, improving the effectiveness of chemical treatments, and preventing liquid load-up, gas pockets and freezing in winter -- all while preserving the ability to still pig the line. For line sizes up to 6", a pig launcher set on a standard SX-LP/HP tool is a better option for operators who still want to be able to pig. However, for 8" lines and up, an SX-PL tool is the best way to have both the benefits of the Vortex flow and the fallback need to pig. The Vortex team will run your numbers on its proprietary surface calculator and will respond to you (typically within 48 hours) with a prediction on the expected benefits by adding the Vortex tools to your line. Accurate data is necessary for an accurate prediction of application success.
